Happy 2016! The new year tends to mean a new you right? I was thinking, what if “a new you” didn’t mean a whole different you, but more of who you are. Like a constant surge of authentic you! It’s really freaky because I think, “my God, more of this madness that is me?!” This could really be a total disaster! BUT then, what if it works? What if I (and you) accept my crazy, neurotic, creative, spunky, kind, loving, intelligent, sarcastic, funny self, and be more of her? That would be outrageously amazing, wouldn’t it?! We would be soooooo…what that’s word…HAPPY with ourselves! And our family would see a more happy us, more often. I mean that would be revolutionary! I’ve signed up for this!
My plan for the new year is to max myself out! Live ME out to the max! And my words for this year are BOLD and CALM – a bit oxymoronic I know, but they’re mine. My first bold move of the year was wearing red lipstick. GASP, you say?! It sounds simple, but I thought red lipstick was not me and would make me look…blah, blah, blah…fill in any excuse you want here.
However, my sister introduced me to her whole new world of red and now I’m a believer. Well, I’m a believer in ONE red so far. I’m going to be buying NARS Charlotte. My sister lured me into red world with Charlotte because she said that several of her friends of different brown shades love it. I figured since I must fall somewhere in the shade spectrum, I tried it. Too light was my application at first, but once my sister yelled at me, I dented my lips with another coat and voila – Boldness(red) is magic(I actually look good)!
So whenever you see me in red lipstick, please be reminded that this year I’m maxing out and walking with boldness, and I would like you to be skipping along beside me.
p.s. The kid did not appreciate that those red lips were going out on the town without him!
